My FIL was sent to prison for over 10 years in January and I’m not sure how to deal with this with my 4 yo.She didn’t have much of a relationship with him prior to this. Saw him at best once a month but obviously knows who he is. Due to his crime she will not ever see him again. He will likely die in prison but if he doesn’t she will have no contact when he is released.She brings him up occasionally and asked my MIL where he was. She told her, he was away. I want to be honest with her in an age appropriate way and so not to scare her. I’m thinking of saying he did something bad and now is in prison when she mentions him, but I don’t really know how to explain that she will not see him again.Advise? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2OfJhdq
