When our daughter was born she was 6lb6oz and she'd swallowed a lot of muconeum, causing her to have trouble feeding for the first few weeks and losing her an additional 11.5% of her body weight (just on the cusp of requiring re-hospitalization).Because of this we were advised that we would have to wake her for feeds every 3 hours without fail. This, we did. After 6 weeks she was within the lower 9th percentile at 7lb6oz and the health visitor was happy to let us be and we could let her sleep at night and feed when she needed it.She was weighed again today at 10 1/2 weeks and is now 8lb4oz and is back at the lower 1 percentile. We're back to 3 hour feeding schedule and the health visitor is going to come back to assess her regularly until she's happy she's gaining enough weight again. How can we help her gain weight?Does she really need to gain lots of weight? She doesn't look thin - if anything, she's recently developed cute little jowls and a pot belly which seem pretty normal for a baby. Me and my wife are both small people - We're both 5'4", I'm 150lbs (of which very little is body fat) and she would fall over in a stiff breeze. Could it not just be that our baby is tiny like us?Anyone else here have experience with a tiny baby? Got fattening tips, or just reassurances? This is really stressing my wife out as she feels like she's not doing things right, and me by proxy. Sorry to whine. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2zvVb7V
