Is telling a 6 year old that all they care about is themselves a type of verbal abuse? Is using “you always” when describing a behavior, such as constantly begging for toys or treats, too harsh? I worry about my phrasing when I’m mad and feeling like my kid is ungrateful. He is so young but as he ages I find myself losing my shut up valve when he sets me off.
