Parents of older kids: were your early guesses about your kid's future personality, talents, and interests accurate?

I was recently chatting with my family about how for many of the people in our extended family, their future inclinations (everything from hobbies to personality to career) were easy to guess from a very early age. For example, my brother was obsessed with math from pretty much the time he could talk, and was always one of those kids who cared a ton about being neat and tidy and having nicely-presented clothes...now he's a mathematician who never wears anything but suits. Same thing for a lot of other people in our family. It interested me to note that in a lot of these cases, many of the traits in question were neither encouraged nor discouraged by their parents or other people around them and also weren't shared by others in their family, so it really seems like some of these things were just an innate part of the kid's personality from an early age.So, that got me wondering: how common is this? Parents of older kids (especially curious to hear from parents with teen or adult kids), if you had any guesses about your child's future preferences and talents based on what they were like as toddlers or very young kids, were you right? I feel like I already see a lot of clues for my daughter in this regard, but she's just a toddler, so I wonder how right I'll be. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2y8e0S4
