Our 4 year old has recently started overnight waking 1-3 times per night. These take two forms: 1) Night terror-ish wakeups around 2 hours after going to bed. Wakes up crying, screaming, but rambles, only seems semi-coherent when I go into her. Calms down quickly and back to bed. 2) Calm wakeup, running into our room, asking me to tuck her in, for a hug and a kiss, etc. Again, once I bring her back into the room and tuck her in, back to bed easy. The terror-y ones if anything bother me less as I know there's nothing she can do about them, and it's probably a matter of getting her to nap more/bed earlier. The second kind are more annoying. She knows she's not supposed to do it, and we're trying various systems to stop them (rewards system, for example, if she doesn't wake us) but nothing is working so far. She doesn't have to go to the bathroom, doesn't really need anything, she just wants to see us.One obvious cause is we a have a 5 month old who wakes us up a lot as well (though she sleeps through his wakeups), and she knows that we get up overnight to be with him, so I think there might be a jealousy factor or something. Obviously the fact that she is waking us up is not helping the sleep deprivation we are going through due to the little oone!Any ideas? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2xX5ape
