7yo still not night-time potty trained

My 7yo is still wetting the bed. Nine times out of ten, it happens about 2-3 hours after bedtime. So, we have a routine: before I go to bed, I get her out of bed and escort her the bathroom for a potty break. She is usually so deeply asleep at that time that she doesn't wake up enough to find the toilet - I have to steer her. But attempts to wake her up fully - having her bear her weight and walk, putting a cold wash cloth on her tummy, talking to her, do not have much effect. Occasionally, if I am particularly tired or want to see if her brain has matured a bit, I skip the routine and let her sleep through. There were several weeks when she was 5yo and several weeks when she was 6yo where she seemed to have outgrown peeing in her sleep. But she regressed both times and I went back to our night time potty run routine after I got sick of washing urine-soaked laundry. My question is not about how to make night-time easier to manage- I think we've got it down. My question is when does this end? How does it end? Is it a medical issue when it goes on so long? (My pediatrician has not been informed about this because my girl was coincidentally in the midst of a miraculous spell of pee-free nights when her annual visit came up.) What do people do about sleepovers? Visits to grandparents? (My parents would be happy to take low-maintenance older children for a weekend, but they aren't doing diaper/bed pad duty.)
