So I currently live in the suburbs as a full time single dad but due to traffic I have often a 1-1.5 hour commute to work. I work downtown medical district and would really like to buy a great house in the historical neighborhood adjacent to the hospital I work at. Problem being the schools are awful in the area with most going the route of private which is way expensive.I have a permit to allow my 13 year old son to continue attending his current school even if we move out of district. The catch would be that I would have to hire someone to shuffle him back and forth to school in the winter, summers of course not an issue. And it's against the traffic I sit in so the commute would be about 20-30 minutes. My work is in the area, I prefer the old historic homes to the curb houses, all of my friends are close by but of course those are all me. My son doesn't hang out with friends after school or do much in the area we are in now. I think it would be good for him to have more people around and I prefer he's 2 minutes away than 1.5 hours away if I ever need to work late.Am I selfish or should I just pick up and leave the burbs for a 2 minute walk to work? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2vfY1QE
