There are MANY children going into pre-K, kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade that do not know their full name, their parent's name, their adresses and an emergency phone number OR that don't know how to easily find this information.I know most of you rely on school and the school staff to keep track of all this, but it's not uncommon that children roam around school and end up in a different class, in a school bus that they shouldn't be in or they even get lost. Sometimes they also get dropped off at a school bus while the parent isn't there (and no, depending on the school board or bus driver there doesn't need to be a parent there for them to drop a kid off) and they have no idea what to do.I've honestly seen horrific scenarios where the kids were completely scared and unable to look for help or respond to the help. So just make sure your kid knows their full name (not nickname), and if they're too young to know their phone numbers and full address, tell them exactly where they can find it easily. I always write my phone number and first name on their school shirts with a permanent marker. They know it's there, if there is something, someone will contact me.Also try and teach them what to do in cases of emergency. You can tell your kids to go see a neighbor you trust in case the bus takes him home a day he's supposed to stay in school, or to absolutely not get off the bus when he doesn't see a parent, etc. Whatever works for your family, just be safe. There has already been two cases at my school where children went somewhere they weren't supposed to be. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2wbNkM3
