My two kids (2& 4) and I had to evacuate last week due to hurricane Florence. We hadn’t been back home (Midwest) in a while so it made sense to come visit family during that time. The first two days my dad was interacting with my kids and was even getting to the point of annoying (I’d try to get them in bed and he’d keep coming downstairs to just stand around and talk). The past few days he’s been completely ignoring them though. We’ll walk into the room and he leaves, he goes into his room and shuts the door, or will only say things like “you already showed me that 3 times...” to my 4 yo who was excited about his new Spider Man jacket. Like I said before my kids are young and do get into things so he just seems annoyed that we’re even here and anything gets puts out of place. My dad was abusive to me growing up (physically and verbally) so seeing him start to get shitty with my kids is really getting me upset. I could leave, however some roads are still flooded and our power is out till next Wednesday. He’s not the type of person you can really discuss anything with either. He won’t ever apologize, he’ll reason to why he’s an asshole, he’s really just a cold person.Anyway can anyone else relate or offer some advice. Just leave and fork out a few hundred for hotels that we can’t really afford anyway? Continue to stay busy and have the least amount of contact possible? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2PRX7zQ
