My eldest turned 2 yesterday and his birthday party is this afternoon. We're in the midst of final cleaning and decorating, the process of which started a few days ago, of course. He was very helpful handing us balloons to be taped on the wall. He always wants his turn with the central vac hose... So we let him at it, figuring it does "something" at least, and then swap by distracting him with the dusting wand, or the fabric shaver that takes the pilling off the couch.Dad's headed downstairs to put away some stuff? Great you should bring these things downstairs to daddy too, he needs your help! I can hear dad sending him my way with something else... Oh here wipe the table with this cloth, help mommy! Give the baby his soother! Come put away that block from the set in the play area downstairs. Now to pray that most of the toys stay put away downstairs until closer to the party... he spotted the bowling pin set he got from the neighbor's garage sale, crap!!! Small tantrum, haul him back to the main floor, distract distract distract..Now I take a moment to chill, check reddit and rock baby back to sleep in the bouncer while dad continues to clean. Fortunately the toddler follows whoever is moving and doing stuff. A little predator growling and stomping along behind dad. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2MxOyI9
