Teens ganging up on me

My teens keep ganging up on me. Frankly, there are other issues too, like they like to pick on younger siblings. They are 13 and 16 yrs old. They just spent the entire last weekend grounded for the mouthing off and ganging up. Here is what happened this morning. Yesterday, the only chore 13 yr old had was to empty the dishwasher. I come in and find that once again, he just threw everything in the cupboard and the silverware drawer. So now I have to pull everything back up and put away. By throw in, I mean the cups were on their sides and just tossed in, not even stacked. All the silverware was in a pile on the silverware thing (you know, the thing that holds silverware that is inside a drawer). I told 13 yr old that he has been told before not to do this and now he will be grounded from his computer tonight for this. He comes back with "I didn't do it." And I said "emptying the dishwasher is your chore, are you saying you did not do that?" and he starts in that he put everything away right and he has no idea what happened. Well, he is lying. This has happened many times. I told him he is grounded from the computer for tonight and will have two chores tonight to do as a result of doing this as well as for lying.16 yr old jumps in and starts calling me a jerk for grounding son for lying. And 16 yr old insists on being a part of this. 16 yr old needs to butt out! And then 16 yr old claims that perhaps, 13 yr old does not know how to put away silverware and cups. I told him that even our 6 yr old can do it. But aside from this, I should not have to sit here and argue about how I am raising his younger brother. It was the same sort of thing over the weekend. I constantly would hear them talking about how stupid and terrible I am. 16 yr old completely gas lights the 13 yr old all the time. I am at a loss as to what to do. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2fQbRTq
