I am fostering my niece, who is three months old, and she was born with Meth in her system. Her mother is a drug addict of 10 years, but that's another story.I was given a basic overview of the potential impact this has on her, but i'm curious to know if some things we're experiencing are part of being born dependent? She doesn't have any visible deformities or disabilities; but I know that we are still in the early stages and may have some mountains to cross. The baby is very tense, she gets started easily, and hates baths. She loves her head rubbed, but hates having her face touched. I feel horrible in that she gets scared so easily and I'm not sure how to help ease her away from this. I know dependent babies have high levels of anxiety and are often tense.I get really annoyed when people tell me that I "shouldn't be holding her so much, because she'll get used to it," because I think she needs as much love and touch as I can give her; but I wasn't given a class on this and the social worker only helps so much.Anyone have experiences in this or advice on this? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2y1uGG5
