Forgetting one of your kids somewhere. Have you done it, how did they react?

I have 2 boys, the older one is 9 and the younger just turned 5. I want to keep this brief because I'm feeling sick about it, but I forgot my 5 year old at a shopping center.When I returned to get him, he was more upset than I've ever seen him before. We're talking hysteric, not able to talk, shivering tears. He didn't calm down the rest of the day, until I put him down for a nap.It's been two weeks and he seems to have forgotten about it, but I'm still shaken from that day.
