He will be 4 in December so I'm sure it's just a weird phase, but it's really driving me bonkers. He's been doing it since July and he is very dedicated to his cat persona. For example: if he gets hurt (minor thing like stubbing his toe or something) he will howl like an obnoxious cat. When he's happy, he'll do little meows and this weird slurping sound. He will refer to himself as my cat, like he will say things like "mummy your cat is a bit hungry" or "your cat hurt his paw". Whenever we come across a real cat, he will meow at it like crazy and say that he's "talking to his cat friend". When strangers talk to him he will answer by meowing.Otherwise, he is a pretty normal, healthy, bright, curious kid. But this cat thing is getting on my last nerve. I've tried ignoring it, playing along with it, telling him off every time he makes these god awful cat-like howls. Even his dad and twin sister are getting tired of it. But it's unrelenting! How long do these phases typically last? What's the best way to approach this thing before it drives me mad? This morning when we were getting into the car he meowed at a lady passing by and I just lost it. I yelled at him that he's not a cat, he's not my cat, and that these cat things need to stop. I felt bad for yelling at him but I'm just really fed up. Help? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2jO2Jj6
