I don't want to upset my mom but she's one of those "I'm a Christian" non-Christians (for reasons I won't get into). She's seen my ~6 y/o watch Descendants 1 and 2 (so it's a Disney movie series of kids who are descended from the evil queens/kings/villains across all the Disney princess movies). I'll say some of the song lyrics don't really sit well with me, personally, despite me not being religious. (So like "I'm rotten to the core" or "we take what we want" or "if you can't take it, break it," etc etc).Anyway my mom is all in a kerfuffle about this, asking my kid what it means to be evil and asking why she'd want to be evil (kid says it's so she can tell people what to do). I don't think a 6 y/o fully understands a man-made concept of evil/good anyway, and generally speaking she's a well behaved kid who knows boundaries and follows rules and stops any "bad" behavior when asked. So, I guess my question is, my kid won't turn into a blood guzzling, animal killing satanist (who, aren't really even bad people anyway) because of a movie, right? How do I talk to my mom about this? I think it's innocent fun. I consider myself to be pagan more than anything, but I also lean toward atheism/agnosticism, much to my mother's chagrin.Just to add - my kid's bday is coming up, we're doing it at Chuck E. Cheese but I'm getting her a Descendants cake... my husband says I should get something else because my mom is "upset" about the Descendants... via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2yEms8u
