Feeding therapist restrained my 18 month old and force fed him, is this okay?

Kiddo is a breast fed baby that hasn't fully taken to solid foods. He had a tongue tie that was treated early, well before solid food was appropriate, but it reattached and had to be treated a second time. He's also an acid reflux baby, but it's effectively managed on a PPI.Anyway, my wife was advised by a previous therapist specifically to never force feed him while we work through this. Today a different therapist that specializes in feeding issues visited for a session and her method was to physically restrain him and force food into his mouth. This went on for an hour, and my wife says that for most of it he was distressed. My wife wasn't comfortable with this because it was contrary to everything she had been told or read on the subject, but in the moment she deferred to the therapist. Is restraining and force feeding an appropriate and accepted therapy technique? ....or are our instincts correct and we shouldn't allow this to happen again? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2xwykLs
