My 17 year son is very independent, he goes out at his houses and comes back at normal times (on fridays quite late) but he has lots of friends and he really enjoys himself. In the past he was very anti social and played video games with his friends and didn't like going out for events. He now is 3 years older and he is really popular with everyone and we always see his friends. We started speaking about drinking because some teenager fell in a bound fire and I asked him do you often drink? and then he said I barley anymore I don't like it and then I asked if he smoked or something as well and he said he doesn't want to smoke cigarettes so then I asked if he smoked other things and he told me that he does...I was shocked but not angry and I asked him why and he told me "I really like going out with friends and meeting up and smoking, it's really fun It feels a lot safer then drinking and I feel more in control" he then said that he makes sure it doesn't get in his way and he never smokes before school and get's everything done before and only smokes on his free time.I trust him but I don't want to encourage smoking because I'd rather he not but I can't tell him not too because his grades are good and he is very social. He has been smoking for quite a while. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2kX3XFt
