Suggestions for games that are turn based for iPhone ?Long flight with an eight-year-old.

I have a long flight coming up with my daughter and I'm wondering about some turn-based games I can use to pass the time. Something like hangman but her English isn't good in my French isn't any better. I'm trying to find a good chess app but any other suggestions are really welcome!
