Cross-post with r/AdviceI have a relative who has 6 kids - 3 are adults and 3 are little kids in middle school (USA). She's a fairly lousy parent with a history of issues and a history of neglecting her kids. Two of her older kids dropped out of high school because she didn't take them, and the other older one did okay because she was raised by someone else in the family. For the 3 young ones, school was supposed to begin on Aug 22nd, but they haven't been enrolled yet because the mom "wants to move across the country soon". However, the mom hasn't decided where she's going to go, hasn't found a place to live, and hasn't found a new job wherever she is going, so realistically, I don't see her enrolling them for several weeks (or months?) from now. She hasn't made an effort to contact the old or new school about her 'plans'. I'm wondering... how should I expect this situation to play out? Should I contact the authorities? How long should I wait before doing so? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2bX1xCm
