Overnight at grandparents question

My son is 2 and has never stayed overnight at either set of grandparents. Both sets are local. (I also have 3 month old baby)We have never asked because we haven't needed an overnight sitter, I didn't want to impose my lovable toddler terror on them, and their homes are not baby/toddler/kid proofed at all. Also, all the grandparents are in their 60s - even though they all work, their health (and energy level) is not what it was 10 years ago, when most people become grandparents. However, now my mother is offended that I would rather "waste money" taking my very young kids traveling WITH me instead of leaving them at grandmas for a week next year. (The kids would be 3 years and 18 months old when we take the trip.)Even though she's never asked for them to visit for even a sleepover. Is the onus on us to ask them, or on the grandparents to invite kid/s over?Any suggestions for how I should proceed? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2bD3Igz
