I have 2 kids, 12F and 9M. They are happy and great. My spouse and I have family histories of depression. Spouse's father committed suicide when my spouse was in high school. He's never had depression. My paternal grandmother, my father, my brother and I have had bouts of depression. With the exception of my grandmother, who was never properly diagnosed and treated, my side of the family has responded well to medication.Given the family history, it seems my kids could be at risk for depression in the future. I'm wondering if there is any value in some sort of cognitive behavioral therapy for kids who are currently well adjusted, in order to "inoculate" them from future problems. My main concern is my son. He internalizes negative experiences and feelings. I try to impart to him the wisdom I have learned over the years. He's 95% happy, but when he's sad, say the entire class gets scolded for being too loud, he will cry and say it was the worst day ever.Has anyone ever sent a generally healthy kid to therapy in order teach them skills to remain healthy? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2bTmSwi
