I am the step mother of my 6 year old step son. He lives with us during the school year and spends the summers with his mom. He will be returning to us this week and my husband and I are looking for some advice to help him adjust his sleep schedule before school starts in 2 weeks. He is currently waking up around 1pm so our best estimate would be that he is falling asleep somewhere around 2am. At our house bedtime is 8pm and we wake up about 6:30am for school.Normally we are firm believers that bedtime means you are in bed even if you are not tired but realistically I think that is too much of a change for him to adjust to. Right now we are planning on a no screen (no TV or video games) policy after 8pm but don't plan on making him stay in bed. What time do we start putting him in bed, how do we adjust that time to get him on the normal schedule in < 2 weeks? Should we wake him up at 6:30 and try and make him stay awake? That doesn't seem feasible or fair to him.Last school year he was a great sleeper and he had no issues with bedtime, but by 8 has was tired after a busy day. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2agIhOd
