How do you keep from losing your shit?

I have a bit of a temper but nothing crazy. I grew up in a ‘yelling house’ with angry parents, so I guess I’m wired that way.My 7 year old has been being difficult lately, and I find myself getting so mad at him all the time. He is able to set me off like no one else can. He’s a great kid and typically behaves very well, but when he’s not, it’s hard for me to handle it the way I wish I could and it feels impossible to fully control my temper.I have been in therapy for a couple years and on meds to try to chill out. I try to be mindful and remind myself of how I want to be as a mom. I read books and listen to podcasts about gentle parenting and I try to practice conscious discipline and respectful parenting. I don’t want to yell. I don’t want him to fear me like I feared my parents. I feel SO strongly about this. But then, in that moment, all of it goes out the window. I just can’t be the calm parent I want to be.So, how do you do it? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/331kmxB
