I have a ten year old boy and thirteen year old girl. Until recently he did the dishes for $25 a week but his dad helped him a lot because he thought it was too hard. And she did the laundry but did a half assed job for $15 a week. I finally said forget it I’ll do it myself after years of piles of dishes and laundry everywhere. I’m the frustrated angry mom who thinks this is crazy and not good parenting. So parents what sort of chores do you make your kids do? How do you handle it when they protest? How do you handle it when the other parent isn’t on board? This is my biggest issue.Reading this is making me feel kinda frustrated and hopeless and sad.Years ago when dad and I were not together for a while I had the kids cleaning my house spotless for the use of my phone. Now I can’t even get them to pick up after each themselves. Mind you dad is a really great dad and provider just shitty in this one small area.Edit: Had a long talk with dad. Thank you all so much. We are going to spend the week coming up with a very solid plan we can stick to including parental controls on phones. Then we will institute it. Thank you again. This has really clarified things for me. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2l1wjTW
