In my culture we give children nicknames like “gordo” meaning chubby or “pollito” meaning little chick. They are not in any way meant to insult our baby in any way but are just loving nicknames. I’ve been calling my son “gordos” recently and posted a pic of him with that name. My FIL, who is also Hispanic, said I was being rude via a text message and got mad. I’m in total shock.
