Attention parents worried about their late walkers!! My 19 month old daughter took her first few steps last night!! No I’m not just posting this to brag lol.

Yesterday my daughter was leaning against my legs facing away from me. I had placed a toy I know she likes on the coffee table. She only had to go about six inches to grab hold of the table. But I’m so excited!! My daughter has no developmental abnormalities, her delay has been a combination of her having more interest in developing her cognitive skills and her needing to build up her confidence in her own time. Her doctor was never concerned but let me tell you, as much as I don’t believe in pushing kids to walk faster than there ready. I was really struggling at times to keep my “follow her lead, she’ll do it when she’s ready” mindset. I offer her plenty of fun opportunities to practice but there are times I feel awkward when people have kids younger than her walking. I feel terrible about that, I don’t want to compare her or give a damn if anyone is wondering if something may be wrong with her.I know this doesn’t count as full fledge walking but it’s exciting for me to say the least. I can’t wait to see her explore her world in new ways. I’ve known children with true developmental delays with mobility and I mean no insensitivity towards anyone’s challenges. I’ve witnessed first hand what a struggle that can be.So why am I writing all this? Because I like so many other concerned parents found myself combing through message boards hoping for a follow up from the original poster or looking for a story similar to your own that helps ease those fears when they come creeping in. I had no real luck in my search and I don’t know if this post will resonate with anyone. But maybe someone will take the time to read my rambling and feel better. Know that if you’re child is developing at well in other areas and continues, no matter how slowly it may seem, to improve their mobility skills. They will absolutely do it when they’re ready. Don’t ignore your concerns of course, some kids need the help of physical therapy. If you’re pediatrician isn’t worried than just let your little one find there way. I’m writing this because it’s what I was hoping to read when I was worried about my little one. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2mLVxWY
