Parents: What are your real thoughts about having kids? Would you still have them, after everything you've been through?

I grew up in a big family and so did my husband. We are always debating on rather having kids or not. We were totally sure we wanted at least 2 kids, but if we could, we would have 5. Well, after a while we are considering not even having kids anymore. We started thinking on the "why's" we want and it always ends up being something so selfish, like " making little "us" " or " we are good and smart people, and maybe or kids can be a positive addition to the world" .I know that every parent always says "ooh, having a kid is the best thing ever". But I also know kids can be really hard, parents need to watch themselves around their kids all the time, $chool and $upplies can get pretty expensive, healthcare, etc etc...I know there's a positive and negative side on everything, but with your mind and experience today: would you go back on time and "cancel" the having kid(s) part?
