A wild story of my introduction to parenthood.

My wife who just gave birth had pretty significant bleeding post partum. We came home a week later. All is fine for another week and my parents headed back across the country to their home. The freaking day after all our family left things went to shit. I'm sitting at my desk playing some xbox and the baby is sleeping beside me in the bassinet. Wife comes over and says she is going to go take a bath. She went off to do her thing when she comes back out I see her out of the corner of my eye in a towel rustling in the kitchen. She walks bath and forth a few times and rustles some more. I hear a clunk, don't think much of it since she is in the kitchen cooking or something. Meanwhile I'm just jamming out gaming and I keep hearing this weird sound. By the 3rd time I hear it I turn around and my naked wife is laid out on the floor. Turns out she passed out from blood loss and the hot bath fell and hit her head on the corner of the kitchen table. I sternum rub her and get her conscious and move her to the couch. She's obviously out of it, baby starts stirring behind the couch. She asks what is that noise? It's the baby babe. What???? Bring the baby over and she is like what is this thing? Starts crying hysterically. I call 911 at this point. The ambulance comes and grabs her, I am scrambling to get the baby ready and loaded to chase. I'm a brand new dad and freaked the hell out. We get there and there is just a massive flu outbreak and the nurses are yelling at me to get the newborn out of here and I'm just trying to find my wife. We find her and spend the next 12 hour going through test and CTs, MRIs. Still nothing from my wife. She is just out of it and cant remember our daughters name or the pregnancy or anything related to having a baby. About two days later is starts clicking a bit. A few weeks she is remembering small chunks of time. Months later she has blocks of time put together, almost two years later she still has blotches she doesnt remember. It really put a strain on our marriage and family trying to rehabilitate my wife and marrige. Having something so memorable ripped from your spouses memory is challenging. We laugh about it nowadays though as crazy as that sounds.TLDR: Wife has post partum issues, passes out from blood loss and heat hits her head and forgets having a baby altogether. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2UwfMEM
