Like most 2 year olds, my son is a sweetie most of the time, but recently night time has been a bit of a struggle. As I was about to change him into his night diaper, he was getting very stubborn, and before you know it my wife (who had joined me when she heard the commotion) and I had a full mini tantrum on our hands. As my wife and I waited for it to calm down, he kept on pushing us away and saying no. We let him have space, but told him it hurt to be pushed away and that he shouldn't do it.Fast forward 2 minutes later and he's pretty calm and we ask if he wants to read a book. He finally smiles, gets up and says "Sorry, Dada. Sorry Mama" and gives us both kisses on the cheek. My wife and I were kind of stunned for a second. He's apologized before (it's something we and daycare had been working on a lot), but he'd never done it without prompting. I felt like I had just witnessed a monumental leap in empathy, and he started to get impatient that we were taking so long to start reading!Anyway, that little sucker built up a lot of good will just at the perfect time for him. Potty training begins today, so wish me luck! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2HPtZYo
