Staying with my in-laws who are treating Easter like Christmas for their kids. My wife and I got our 5yr old just a simple basket with treats. How do I explain the huge difference to him.

My wife and I understand they, the in laws, are compensating because the don’t spend any quality time with their children so they only know to give them gifts. In reality we, my wife and I, are much more financially stable and give our son the life we have always wanted for him. But our son is going to just see that they have a whole couch of toys and he’s getting physically a lot less.
