We have two kids and want to foster/adopt our third. A coworker said that she hopes we don't adopt a black child because we couldn't raise him right.

My husband and I have 7 and 5 year old little girls. We are looking to adopt and aren't going to specify race. Since black kids are the majority in foster care in our area, it's not out of the realm of possibility that we would foster or adopt a black infant or toddler. We are only fostering younger than our kids so race won't even come up for their first few years. I know transracial adoption can be difficult for some people but one of our good friends is a black man adopted by white parents and he has nothing but positive things to say about his family.I mentioned our plans to move forward with fostering at work and a coworker, who is black, said that she hopes we don't adopt a black child. Really? It's fucking 2019! These are kids who need homes and she hopes we don't adopt a child who doesn't match our exact skin tone. I was fuming but held my tongue.Kids need support and love. Race is nothing but a social construct. Break down borders and love your neighbor. via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2GE9QnH
