My toddler won't stop hitting and pushing

My almost 2 year old has started hitting. He hits me when I tell him no, and he hits the other kids at daycare, pushes them, and knocks their toys over. At home he goes to his room and after a minute or so I go in and we have a talk. At daycare he sits in the corner. It changes his attitude for about 5 minutes, and then he's back to misbehaving.
