Only pierce one year?

Edit: EAR. Piece one EAR. :)My 8-year old (self-identified) tomboy want to only pierce one year. She wants an earring but says that two earrings would be "too girly." I tried to point out that many men wear two earrings. I think it's ... weird to only pierce one year, and told her she needs to pierce both and can wear only one earring when the holes heal.But, honestly, I'm just against it because it seems ... odd, not because I have any real reason to say no.
