My son is addicted to TF2

I've thought about posting in casual gamers, parenting, etc, countless subs but I decided to post here. I've played computer games with my son for a long time, he's 10 now, and addicted to TF2. I of course limit his time, but there is something that really pulls in kids when it comes to tf2, perks, microtransactions ,etc. He's 10, I'm 37, I played TF1 back in the days when it was a quake mod.I tried to show him the spectrum of gaming from the old to the new. Command and conquer, half life, L4d, Bf2, Bf1, world of warships, even space quest...just showing him how games evolved and teaching him about. We've always had a blast, and still do when we play games with each other, but TF2 pulls him in, he's obsessed with buying new items all the time, he has a growing list of online friends, which is cool, but some of them are older 14/15/16, so they are the cool factor, something he's aspiring to be.Any parents have a similar situation? Kids just seem to get sucked into TF2, its such a huge market for valve and that may be one of the reasons why they are ditching HLF all together. I know its a first world problem, and I am limiting more game / ipad / youtube time so I can help him more with school. Anybody have any suggestions? Not things like " you shouldn't let him play games"...etc...gaming was a huge part of my life especially computer games, which helped , me get into I.T. , anybody in the same boat, I would really love some advice. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2ywO3bv
