She picks up accents and the voices of her friends and tv characters really easily and I don't know if it is purposeful or accidental, though it might be a bit of both. For the last three months or so she has been speaking in this singsonging whiny child like intimation of Marilyn Monroe. It's like a my little pony with a scoop of extra whine and dollop of breathiness.I am going crazy. At first it was only when she was playing with her toys so I would just leave the room so as to not mention it or make her self conscious. If she was playing in my office I would politely say she was playing too loudly and ask her to use a different voice or play elsewhere. Now it is all the time. This sickeningly sweet affected whine is how she has chosen to speak everywhere. I have stopped responding to her "play voice". I keep reminding her that her "play voice" is for make believe or for her toys and if she would like something from me I would like her real voice please. She is getting very frustrated with this request and often complains that it IS HER REAL VOICE, and that she doesn't know what I am asking for, even her cry has become this singsongy; mmmuhhhhuhhhhuhuhh which sounds like parody of an adult film star.I am totally lost, I don't want to hamper her imagination and I don't want to make her self conscious but my skin crawls when she speaks. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2fkjXn6
