I just wanted to share an idea I had that FINALLY worked for us with chores! We're going on a month of this and it's been amazing. I have a 5 year old and a 7 year old. I have never been able to stick with a chore chart. You know how it is. So I came up with this idea to have a "job fair". I taped all these flyers (I just made them by hand) up in the kitchen with very official sounding jobs, descriptions, and salaries on each. The jobs were things like Sanitation Department, Restaurant Manager, Laundromat Manager, etc. They had to fill out an application (again, made by me) and then had to interview with me. I made them sign a contract for their job. There has been very little whining when it comes time for them to do the chores, because I talked to them about how serious it is to sign a contract and give your word. There was only one instance with each of my kids where they didn't do their job for the day, and they got their pay deducted. They were not happy, let me tell you. Payday is on Saturday and they get so excited every week to get their money. They both make $5 a week. My son wanted to make more money, so today he picked up a second job from the job fair board, and again signed a contract. I'm excited to see my kids getting into a routine with their "jobs" and seeing how careful they are with the money they make. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2y8AqhF
