Not really a rant, but that's about as close as I could get with the flair..Firstly, the title should read 'It's 3 am and I've had about 5 hours sleep in 48 hours...' but I'm tired... So yeah.I realise that anyone with very young kids will be asking why that's notable, but hey, I'm not used to it anymore. So one of our four decided yesterday at about 1am was a good time to develop a pretty vibrant rash over most of the top half of his body, it looked like a heat rash/allergy but given he was a bit groggy, yet unable to sleep with it, it was a bit of a drama. Still, being kept up by sick kids doesn't happen that often so we figured we'd roll with it. We treated with anti-histamine every few hours and kept him under essentially under close supervision for most of the night (Did have an initial concern that it was anaphylaxis given the symptom, but in isolation it could have been essentially any irritation..).He was fine in the morning to the point of wanting to go to school, so I drove him in in the morning and got into the rest of the day, fully intending to have a nice, early night tonight.Roll on eleven o'clock (because you know, that early night didn't happen) and I hear child number two being sick in the bathroom. So now I've had 4 hours or so of vomiting and diarrhoea, although we do seem to have just about hit a lull (so he's watching harry potter, and I'm posting random shite to reddit...).Oh and given we have someone vomiting, we've implemented the family quarantine plan (because you know, 4 sick kids leads to 2 sick adults pretty quickly), I've cleaned the bathroom about 3 times and everything smells of disinfectant. Oh and I have about 3 and a half hours before I have to get up to prep the other two for a bike ride, and drive the first to school because he has a revision period before a major maths test. Child number 2 will, of course, be spending tomorrow at home..Such fun, and to think it's been a bit over 14 years since I changed my first nappy.. So, there is something to look forward to for those who haven't been there, and something to try not to look back on to those who have managed to get past it.I'd say I'll update this as it goes, but frankly, if it looks like this lull will hold, I'm going to see if I can get some sleep..*Edit - 48, not 24 hours. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2pWhC46
