My daughter (8F) hits herself/ is being bullied

Hello parents! My daughter is typically very mild mannered second grader. She is bright and friendly and by all accounts, a joy to be around. She is however very hard on herself. If she has trouble with something or is criticized, she shuts down, cries, calls herself stupid, hits herself, pulls her hair out etc. (this doesn't happen very often... maybe once in 6 months or so if I had to estimate)Her teacher pulled me aside today and told me that there was an incident at yesterday's talent show assembly when a girl was playing piano and my daughter was in the crowd pretending to play piano too. A boy from her class (who has been bullying her all year) turned around and was making fun of her telling her that she can't play piano, that she will never play piano, or any instrument.... just being a brat to her and my daughter started crying and literally beating herself up (punching herself in her head) the middle of the assembly in front of the whole school. Now, I've mentioned this bully to the teacher more than once this year, but nothing has come of it... he sits directly in front of her in class and when they had round tables he sat at her same table... (this is probably a separate issue but I'm adding it for background.)Anyway, there are only 5 days left in the school year, but her teacher asked if she could refer her to the psychologist. I said yes, of course, but I'm not sure what will come of it.Reddit, have you ever experienced something like this? What should I do now?Sorry for the formatting, I'm on Mobile. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2r1clae
