Beware of teenage male babysitter

If you hire a teenage male babysitter, be prepared for your 4 year old to think they are significantly cooler than you.I try to think of myself as a fun parent. My kids are 4 years old and 9 months. My partner and I like to go on date nights once a month and normally have the neighbor babysit our kids for that time. We went last Sunday and the neighbor had other obligations and wasn't able to do it, but her 16 year old son was available. He's a great kid, has experience with little ones, and we decided to give it a shot. All went well. The baby is a good sleeper and we had already put her down by the time we left. The sitter and the 4 year old had a blast. They built a fort, had a water gun battle, played SWAT team, and had a home run derby with rolled up socks in the basement. They pretty much went non stop from the time we left until we got home. I love playing with my kid, but he has more energy than anyone I have ever met. We just got him started with sports and he is so in his element. I do try to keep up with him and normally can, but 2 straight hours of non-stop running around? I can't even. This entire week he has been begging me to leave the house and have the babysitter come over again. He was asking about it on the way to preschool today and I asked him if he thought Matt (the sitter) was cooler than me. He said, "Well Matt's cooler (long pause), but I think you are smarter than him. That's good too. Matt is just cooler."Don't hire a teenage male babysitter if you have a preschooler /s via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2rEksMD
