I get overly emotional when my son stays overnight somewhere, or when looking at old photos/videos.

I notice sometimes that when my 3 year old son stays over with a family member, I find my self getting upset. It doesn't happen every-time, but when it does happen I get this deep sadness like somethings missing or wrong. I usually end up crying a lot. Its hard for me to even go in his room when he is gone. This can also happen when looking at old videos of him when he was younger. Its almost like I cant believe how fast he's grown, granted he is only 3. He is my wife and I's first child, so I have no idea whats going on with me.
