Dealing with a ADHD Child

I want to give the whole story, so here it goes.I am a step father of 2 wonderful girls. The older is doing well and have no questions about her, but the youngest I believe has ADHD.First off, I have to say that I've been diagnosed with ADHD 7 years ago at age 21 and being medicated has helped me wonders. I am close to finally graduating with a bachelors in business finance.Enough about me. I find that my 6 year old must have ADHD. Her kindergarten teacher had warned us about her short attention span early on and I had hoped we could extinguish the problem without medication. However, her first grade teacher has told us similar if not worse things. Her first grade teacher says that she constantly will not focus on her work. Instead, she will fidget around, cut up pieces of paper or her own clothing, or even simply walk around the class and tidy up the place (for either her classmates or the teacher).Me and Mom don't know what to do. As a medicated ADHD patient, I think medicating her on non-stimulant medication might be our best bet, but Mom is very hesitant on popping pills in our daughter.r/parenting please help us in any way shape or form.TLDR; I think my kid has ADHD at 6 years old. Should we consider medication? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2qBZQS9
