4 year old daughter lying about abuse.

The other day I posted this rant and got some very good feedback from you folks, so I thought I'd try again. We had our meeting with child aid services (CPS in other parts of the world) and were quite shocked to learn that our 4 year old daughter had told her teachers that both of us had hit her. The story was consistent between what she told her teachers, and what she told the aid worker during her visit....that mommy had slapped her on the face and then I came in and hit her on top of the head.It never happened. I can't even imagine a situation arising where the thought of doing something like that would enter into our heads. The aid worker seemed to imply that if they received such a report again the police may have to be involved. This has left both my wife and I extremely upset and unsure of what to do. The thought of our daughter telling another such lie at school and...well, I can't even bare to think about it.And so, during this sleepless night I took to the internet to try and find some sort of solution, or at least a direction to go in. I managed to find lots of different info about children of similar ages telling such lies...but most of the advice seemed to hover around the, "relax, it's just a phase some kids go through." Not particularly helpful when you feel like at any time the police and cps could be knocking on your door.I'm unsure of how to talk to our little one about it because I'm worried that such talks would just strengthen this idea in her head and she'd end up saying something else at school. The thing I resent the most is that this has turned our happy, healthy home into a somber one, and our happy go lucky daughter is confused by the sudden shift in mood. It's awful, and I'm at a lose. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2qxK0bb
