I realize that nearly all of you are probably younger than me and more Pokemon savvy, but I thought I would share a few tips I figured out for playing Pokemon Go with my 4yo.First I decided we were only interested in finding the monsters, and no other aspect of the game. (We're not leveling up, joining teams, the gyms, the Pokéstops, eggs, fruit, evolving, any of that. We just like the part where you find the monsters near you.)For a kid's short attention span, you can use "incense" to make the monsters come to you for a 30 minute period. If you keep walking the whole time, you can get 5-6 monsters in 30 minutes with the incense. Otherwise you'll get maybe 1 or 2.If you don't have time or interest to figure out all the aspects of the game that let you earn more incense, you can just buy it. If you go to the shop and keep scrolling down, you'll get to the part where you can buy coins. Then use the coins to buy incense. To make it less like we're trapping things that want to be free, I told my 4yo that the monsters don't like being out in the world... someone locked them out of their house, and they want to get back in. When we throw the ball, we're actually throwing their house at them so they can get back inside. Once they're in, they're so happy they dance. That's why the ball jumps around a little.Even with incense, you have to keep walking to get the monsters to come to you, and it does not work well to just walk around your house or yard. You want to walk down the street. If you happen to be near a Pokéstop in the car, you can get the free stuff there without getting out of your car/taking the kids out of car seats. My daughter and I take turns rolling the ball so she doesn't use them all up. She LOVES tapping the monster on the map and seeing it materialize in her world in the phone. Today we had one in the car with us, and one on the dog's back! :-)I tried letting her watch the show today, but it was just too crazy and too much fighting for her at this age (IMO). We're still on super-why and Octonauts, and I'm not ready for her to be watching fight scenes yet.I hope this helps someone... have fun! via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2aEPjz4
