This is a long but very interesting write-up of a study on how we judge parenting. The issue is one we discuss here frequently of how much independence a child should have -- whether it's OK to leave a child unattended, at what age and for how long. What they found was that people were highly subjective and depending on why the parent left the child unattended, would perceive a higher risk to the child. In essence the moral outrage of parents determined their risk assessment, not the other way around. Why Do We Judge Parents For Putting Kids At Perceived — But Unreal — Risk? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2bdxjJK
