So I can't really find many other people writing about this online and I kinda wish I could find someone that relates...Our baby had laser "therapy" on a port wine stain on her leg yesterday. Not because we're worried about cosmetics or how she'll handle people's small minds in the future, but because the doctors told us that there are health risks, eg: one leg growing larger. The doctor told us he would just do a test patch on her bottom so that if the laser had any adverse effect, or scarring it wouldn't really be seen. However he then decided 5minutes before hand the the would do it on her leg... Still at this point we thought he was just doing a test.. Then he told us it would take 1 second in total.. He meant the time that the laser light would be on, like that really matters to us..Then they covered her eyes suddenly and she started crying, I held her hands and he zapped her.. But then he zapped her again and again for about 30 seconds to a minute.. And had done her whole leg.She screamed a horrible new scream.. A scream of terror.. It got worse and worse as the seconds went on.. Just thinking about the sound fucks me up entirely..Up until yesterday I was making her laugh all day long.. She hasn't laughed at me since the treatment.. They say the pain isn't much, and I believe that, the physical pain may be trivial.. But the mental pain we're going through at the moment is pretty hardcore.. We feel like someone's just abused our child.. They want us to come back for more treatments in a months time.. I really can't see it happening. We wish they told us about the forceful closing of her eyes.. I keep googling the eye thing now and can't find anything about it.. Anyways for anyone out there considering laser.. It may be needed for your child, and it's good that there is the option.. And some people are tough.. I thought I was tough, but just our experience was extremely traumatic..So has anyone else here gone though laser for a birthmark with a baby? How did you cope? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2bzNlyk
