Please parents of Reddit, teach me how to play date!

Okay, I’ll break it down. We live in an inner city neighborhood. There aren’t a lot of kids in our area - and it’s not super kid friendly to ride bikes or play outside. I should also mention a lot of families at my child’s school are fairly affluent (upper middle class anyhow). That said, our family is not wealthy. We mainly stick to social events with friends kids/cousins. That’s it. I have literally never ever hosted a play date and am freaking out! gonna get extra here my child’s friend, her nanny has been texting me and I have offered to host at ours after school on a Monday. I am a SAHM, I do not have a nanny, and I also have two other children (one being seven months).I have no idea what this entails... my plan is to bake/roll sugar cookies (we’ll do green for Saint Patrick’s) with the kids and have them decorate after. I was hoping to keep it as a two hour thing but I don’t know what the norm is.. does after school mean hosting dinner as well? How can I make this fun/memorable? Please keep in mind the nanny will have to drop and pick-up said child (they are both age 8).Help! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2whqgQr
