How tell older children about our newborn's abnormality?

I have two girls, and expecting a baby boy. Our boy is going to be born with a severe cleft lip and palate.How do I tell my girls, ages 5 and 3 when he is born, about his face and cleft? My five year old is especially excited about a new baby brother, but he will not look normal and might actually be terrifyingly different in the eyes of my girls.
