When our middle was an infant my husband fell into a depression and turned to drinking to help him cope. He got help shortly after our son's first birthday and has been sober for almost 15 years. I was never a big drinker and supported my husband in his recovery so we don't keep alcohol in the house and I never drink it.We have 3 teenagers. All of them are in high school but the oldest is graduating this year and will be going to college away from home. I realized that we never really talked much about responsible drinking because for my husband responsible drinking means not drinking. My kids have never seen anyone drunk (in person) but also never really see examples of positive drinking either. I know it's important to teach moderation when it comes to drinking before kids go away to college and go crazy but how do you do that if you don't drink? And yes, all of the kids are aware of their dad's previous habits. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2vPf11x
