New Mum Support Annoys Me

Being a first time mother to a six month old boy has been a total delight, but is also on some days super tough. We all know this. That’s why there are endless parenting support groups, help books, websites, cultural references, memes etc... But I REALLY can’t stand the contrived words of support that new mothers offer one another. Always to the tune of “you’re doing amazing mumma” that all the mothers group attendees or group chat members coo at each other if someone conceded to having a shit day. Why do I hate it so much? Am I a bad person? It’s so irritating? I mean do you really know if Karen’s an amazing mother? She could be smoking crack in her kitchen while her baby watches porn hub on the iPhone. I also don’t care for anyone to tell me “you’re doing great mumma”. Not unless it’s the baby himself, my husband or someone who’s really actually seen me at my best and worst mothering moments, and genuinely thinks it’s the truth. And please don’t call me mumma. Ugh. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2uS1XYN
