Warning to other parents of young children, always keep parked cars locked.

I was advised this story might help serve as a warning to other parents of young children. Two years ago in the July heat I was at home asleep after working a night shift. I woke up at 3pm, and went into the living room to see my mother in law (babysitter) playing with my young toddler, I looked around and didnt see my 4 year old daughter. I asked mother in law where she was, she said she is on the back porch playing. I immeadiately go to back porch and see no signs of my daughter. I yell her name..no response. I start to panic, I had seen a social media post about a supposed child molester/abductor in our neighborhood and my mind goes there. I start running up the driveway screaming her name, feeling indescribable panic and I hear my daughters faint scream "Mama!!!" Except I couldnt find her, I yelled back "keep screaming so I can find you!" I followed the faint screams to my husbands F250 work truck, with windows tinted so dark you couldn't see inside. I found my baby in there on the verge of unconsciousness, her skin so red she looked inhuman almost and so drenched in sweat she looked like she had just climbed out of a swimming pool. Somehow a little four year old girl had managed to open that big truck door and climb inside, then lock herself in trying to get out. There were sweaty hand prints all over the windows where she had banged on them trying to get out. If she had lost consciousness before I ran down the driveway I never would have thought to look for her inside that truck. I didnt think she was able to get inside it. My mother in law who was responsible for them while I slept, didnt know she was even missing..My daughter almost died in a hot car in our own driveway, while I slept thinking I had a capable responsible babysitter looking after them. So take this advice if you have kids too young to be aware of their own safety, and keep your parked cars locked. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/30YXiPr
